Jennifer Pennington is the new Executive Director for the American Red Cross of Augusta. She will start on Monday, February 1, 2010.

"Jennifer brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, skills, ideas and, enthusiasm to the job," said Tim McGill, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross of Augusta. "We are excited to have Jennifer lead our chapter. She will be a great addition to our community."

After graduating in 1998 from the University of Georgia, she became the Director of Health and Safety Services at the East Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross in Athens, GA. In 2004, she became the Executive Director and helped rebuild the Chapters community presence, financial donors, clients, volunteers, and staff.

Pennington's involvement in the community has been extensive. She began as a Red Cross volunteer when she was just 15. In Athens, Pennington was involved in many local organizations including the Women in Business Council, Athens Rotary Club and Junior League of Athens.

"It is an honor to have been invited to serve as the American Red Cross, Augusta Chapter Executive Director and I look forward to working with the community to daily fulfill the mission of the American Red Cross to meet the needs of individuals and families in times of disaster and to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies," said Pennington. Pennington, her husband, and daughter will be moving to the Augusta area in the following months.
